15,000 Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education places
In addition to the 12,500 Fee Free TAFE and vocational education places announced at the beginning of 2023, the Australian and South Australian Governments have invested in an additional 15,000 places, including 1,500 places for First Nations students to be made available over 3 years from the start of 2024. This further commitment builds on the success of Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education throughout this year.
Limited Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education opportunities from the first offering are still available for eligible learners enrolling in and commencing a new course in 2023.

Fee-Free TAFE and vocational education includes foundation skills courses across in-demand areas including:
- Care industries such as aged and disability care, health care and childcare
- Technology and digital
- Hospitality and tourism
- Construction
- Agriculture
- Defence and manufacturing
- Education
Places are limited and Fee-Free training aims to increase opportunities and workforce participation of First Nations Australians, young people (17-24), people out of work or receiving income support, unpaid carers, women undertaking study in non-traditional fields, people with disability and certain categories of visa holders.
